DeRozan Named Eastern Conference Player Of The Month

The National Basketball Association announced Friday guard DeMar DeRozan has been selected as Eastern Conference Player of the Month for April. DeRozan joins Kyle Lowry (December 2014) and Chris Bosh (January 2007) as the only players in team history to be named Player of the Month.  DeRozan led all Eastern Conference players for the month averaging 24.1 points in seven  games. He also averaged 4.9 assists, 3.7 rebounds and shot .492 (61-for-124) from the field. DeRozan scored 20+ points in 17 of the team’s final 22 games, including four in April. He scored 38 points Apr. 4 versus Boston.DeRozan was selected ninth overall by Toronto in the 2009 NBA Draft and has led the team in scoring for four consecutive seasons. He ranks third all-time in team scoring with 7,606 points and fifth with 443 games played.       Toronto will host Washington in the first round of the 2015 NBA Playoffs tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 p.m. The game can be seen nationally in Canada on TSN and in the United States on ESPN.
