Lakers Draft Workouts: Day One

T.J. McConnell | PG | Arizona | 6’1/2 | 188 | Sr.
Coming off a First Team All-Pac-12 senior season, McConnell looks to bring his defensive resilience to the NBA. In both of his seasons at Arizona, the 23-year-old was named to the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team. He was also selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team while at Duquesne in 2012.

Kevin Pangos | PG | Gonzaga | 6’2 | 182 | Sr.
The reigning West Coast Conference Player of the Year, Pangos enjoyed a stellar career at Gonzaga, which began as a teammate of Laker Robert Sacre when Pangos was a freshman (2011-12). Pangos knocked down a school-record 310 3-pointers in his Bulldog career, and ranked second among all Division I players with a 3.72 assist-to-turnover ratio last season.

“I’m not just a shooter,” Pangos said. “I’m not just a set-up guy. I can do a bunch of things. Whatever they need me to do, I’m flexible. I can fit different roles.”

Bryce Dejean-Jones | G | Iowa State | 6’6 | 210 | Sr.
Having played for three separate universities, Dejean-Jones has taken the long way from his hometown of Los Angeles to the NBA Draft. The Taft High product averaged 10.5 points as a senior at Iowa State.

“Being from this city and growing up watching all the great times we had as Laker fans,” Dejean-Jones said, “it’s just a great experience being here working to actually be on the team.”

Seth Tuttle | PF | Northern Iowa | 6’8 | 240 | Sr.
Tuttle capped off four years of starting at Northern Iowa by being selected to the All-American Second Team. Also named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, Tuttle led the conference by shooting 60.4 percent from the field, while averaging 15.3 points.

“I think I can stretch the floor,” Tuttle said. “I’m a little versatile in a way. I feel like I’m a really smart player, so I know where the ball needs to be (and) where to be on defense. Just an overall pretty good understanding of the game.”

Maurice Walker | PF | Minnesota | 6’10 | 255 | Sr.
The backbone of Minnesota’s defense, Walker led the Golden Gophers in rebounds (6.7) and blocks (1.3) on his way to being named an All-Big Ten honorable mention. Walker also averaged 11.8 points on 57.6 percent shooting — the latter of which ranked second in the conference.

“I think I’m a great back-to-the-basket scorer,” Walker said. “(I have) a lot of good post moves, good passing as well. I was knocking down my shot today. Hopefully that jumper sticks out.”

Dez Wells | SG | Maryland | 6’3 | 209 | Sr.
Selected by coaches to the All-Big Ten Second Team, Wells finished his college career by providing a bit of everything for Maryland. He was second among Terrapins in scoring (15.1), rebounds (5.3), assists (2.8) and steals (1.0).
