Indiana Ready To Play In Front Of Hometown Fans Once Again

INDIANAPOLIS – Just a five-minute stroll through the streets of downtown Indianapolis will make one thing clear: this city is behind the Indiana Fever. Storefronts display “Go Fever” signs, and it’s evident that Indiana’s run to the WNBA Finals has the city’s full attention.

On Friday — which Mayor Greg Ballard is declaring to be “Fever Friday” in Indianapolis — that attention focuses in on Bankers Life Fieldhouse, where Game 3 of the WNBA Playoffs 2015 presented by Boost Mobile will tip at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN 2.

Both the Fever and the Minnesota Lynx will be looking to move within one win from capturing the WNBA title. And they’ll do it in front of what is sure to be a buzzing arena. Players from the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts, along with former Fever coach Lin Dunn, bought tickets for fans, ensuring that Bankers Life Fieldhouse will be packed to the brim with Indiana faithful.

“I know we were all excited to get back home and play in front of the best fans in the WNBA,” said Fever forward Marissa Coleman, “and to hear how quickly the tickets sold out that the Pacers and the Colts bought, it’s exciting. It’s always good to have your home crowd behind you.”

The return home is a refreshing one for Indiana as six of their eight Playoffs games thus far have come on the road. Lynx fans filled the Target Center for the first two games of the series and didn’t disappoint when it comes to energy and passion.

But Fever players insist their fans are going to be just as boisterous Friday night.

“We definitely have the best fans in the league,” Coleman said. “I think you saw that in the New York series with how loud that place got in Game 2, and even in the Chicago series.  [Minnesota] will definitely see what it’s like to play in front of such a great crowd.”

“Our fans are the best in the league,” added guard Briann January. “They bring so much energy and so much passion. They see us out there working hard and they support us. Our city supports us, which is a great feeling. We’re happy to be home and hopefully we can get some wins for them.”
