2016 Player Capsule: Julius Randle

By the Numbers
20: Rebounds grabbed by Julius Randle against the Los Angeles Clippers on April 6, when he became the youngest Laker to haul that many since at least 1983-84.
21: Years of age when he recorded his first career triple-double against Denver on March 25, making him the youngest Laker with one since Magic Johnson.
34: Double-doubles recorded, which ranked 15th in the NBA. No other sophomore had half as many.

Season Summary
For the most part, it was a strong debut season for Randle, who played only 14 minutes last year before a broken leg ended his rookie campaign. A force on the boards, he ranked 10th in the NBA and second among non-centers with 10.2 rebounds per game, while also averaging a double-double with 11.3 points. However, he struggled to finish with his right hand — shooting the league's third-worst layup percentage (49.4) — and was inconsistent from outside. Randle, who came off the bench for 21 games, also allowed opponents to shoot 3.7 better than average when he was the primary defender, which was the NBA's third-highest mark.

In His Own Words
On his summer plans: "Just to work my butt off, day in and day out. Come back better than I can imagine next year. There are a lot of areas in my game that I can work on. I'll leave that up to myself to get better at those areas."
