1) He is all about Los Angeles. Farmar was born here in the city, went to Taft High School in Woodland Hills, attended UCLA for two seasons, played for the Los Angeles Lakers for five seasons and lives here in LA in the offseason. He was named the Los Angeles Times High-School Player of the Year in 2003-04, the Rivals.com National Freshman of the Year in 2004-05 and to the All-Pac-10 First Team in 2006.
2) Farmar grew up around baseball. His father is a former minor league basketball player who was a second round pick in both the 1981 and 1982 draft secondary phase. In addition, his godfather is former major league all-star center fielder Eric Davis.
3) He formed the Jordan Farmar Charity Foundation in 2008 and is very active in the LA community. His annual ‘A Taste of Hope’ event held last year at UCLA in Pauley Pavilion gives back to numerous charities helping children and his annual summer basketball camp, ‘Hoop Camp’ helps kids learn the skills of basketball while also promoting healthy living with yoga sessions, plyometric exercises and agility training.
4) He has played parts of two seasons overseas in addition to his years of service in the NBA. On August 3, 2011, he signed a one-year contract with the Israeli Basketball Super League champion Maccabi Tel Aviv in the wake of the NBA lockout. He was named Euroleague Player of the Week in November of 2011. His coach in Israel was David Blatt, new head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. On July 12, 2012, he signed a three-year deal with opt-outs after each season with the Turkish Basketball League team Anadolu Efes. He played one season in Turkey.
5) He is a big Los Angeles sports fan…he regularly attends Dodgers and Kings games and you will often see him at many UCLA events.
