WNBA CHAMPION ALYSHA CLARK SIGNS WITH MYSTICS
Washington, D.C. – Washington Mystics General Manager and Head Coach Mike Thibault announced today that forward Alysha Clark has signed with the team as a free agent. Clark has won two WNBA Championships, including this past season as a member of the Seattle Storm.
“Alysha Clark is the ultimate competitor and winner. She is able to impact the game at both ends of the court as well as provide incredible leadership in the locker room,” said Thibault. “There aren’t many players as well-respected around the league as she is. She contributes to every phase of the game – an All-Defensive Team player, a league leader in three-point shooting, a terrific passer and post-up threat. She perfectly fits our style of play. Her new teammates and staff are excited to get on the court with her soon!”
A nine-year WNBA veteran, Clark is coming off her best WNBA season where she was a 2020 candidate for Defensive Player of the Year and was instrumental during the Storm’s championship campaign. During the regular season, she recorded career-bests in numerous categories including points per game (10.0), assists per game (2.7) and steals per game (1.5). In addition to setting a career mark in field goal percentage (.558), Clark also led the WNBA in 3-point field goal percentage (.522) for the second consecutive season which was a personal best. Clark played every playoff game during the Storm’s postseason run in 2020 and averaged a playoff career-best 10.3 points per game. This past season, Clark earned her second All-Defensive honors when she was unanimously voted to the WNBA All-Defensive First Team.

Clark was selected in the second round (17th overall) of the 2010 WNBA draft by the San Antonio Silver Stars. She attended Middle Tennessee State University where she led the NCAA in scoring and set a school record with 27.5 points per game as a junior and senior at MTSU. She earned Player of the Year honors during all four years of college and recently was inducted in the university’s Hall of Fame.
