Fellow Rookies Say Ingram Will Have Best Career

Brandon Ingram's peers have spoken, and Lakers fans sure hope they are right.

In an annual survey conducted by NBA.com earlier this month at the Rookie Photo Shoot in Greenburgh, N.Y., the 2016 NBA Draft class voted Brandon Ingram as the rookie who will have the best career.

Thirty-eight players responded to the survey, and 26.7 percent voted for Ingram, the No. 2 overall pick, who was followed by Minnesota's Kris Dunn (16.7 percent) and New Orleans' Buddy Hield (13.3).

Ingram was also tabbed high for a short-term goal, as he was voted the second-most likely to win the 2017 Rookie of the Year award, receiving 25.8 percent of response. Dunn (29.0), selected fifth overall, won that category, as well as four others.

Ingram also received votes in the categories for "Best Shooter," "Best Defender" and "Best Playmaker." The first was won by Hield, while Dunn took the latter two.

Fellow rookie Laker Ivica Zubac has quickly become a fan and locker room favorite whether due to his strong Summer League showing or off-court persona. The latter reason hasn't gone unnoticed by the other rookies, as he took 6.1 percent of the vote for the funniest rookie category. Ingram received votes, too, but Dunn might as well be named class president since he also won that with 15.2 percent.

Also worth noting is the question of "Favorite Player in the League." While Kevin Durant (29.7) was the most popular answer, former Laker Kobe Bryant still received 6.3 percent despite retiring in April, which made him the only non-active player to be named by this rookie class.
