Warriors Take Down the Mavs

Established 1946 | 7-time NBA Champions

Klay Thompson stayed hot, Ian Clark provided a spark and both Patrick McCaw and David West threw down big-time dunks as the Warriors completed their two-day, two-game road trip with a 112-87 victory in Dallas on Tuesday night.

GAME LEADERS

Owners of a 2.5 game advantage atop the Western Conference standings and a five-game winning streak, the Warriors picked up their 28th road win of the season and became the first team in NBA history to have 28 road wins in three consecutive seasons.

The first quarter saw 10 different players connect on a 3-pointer, six of which were knocked down by the Mavs, who held a two-point lead at the end of the period.

The Dallas advantage, however, wouldn’t last long.

The momentum shift started with a ferocious slam by David West with 10 minutes left in the second quarter, and that started an 11-2 run in which the Dubs took a lead they wouldn’t surrender. Fueled by Ian Clark making five straight shots and Klay Thompson knocking down three straight 3-pointers, the Warriors shot 65 percent from the field and out-scored Dallas 34-20 in the period.

West’s slam wasn’t the only impressive dunk for the Warriors, as rookie Patrick McCaw provided the exclamation point to a dominant second quarter by finishing off the lob pass from Matt Barnes.

Thompson stayed hot into the second half, where he made the last four of his seven straight shots, including five threes. Thompson finished with a game-high 23 points, his seventh straight game with at least 20 points. Ian Clark added 18 points off the bench and Stephen Curry added 17 points and nine assists on a night in which he played against his brother, Seth, who had 10 points and four assists for the Mavs.

Draymond Green added seven points, seven rebounds and eight assists, but his biggest impact was made on defense as he anchored a squad that limited their fourth straight opponent to fewer than 100 points on less than 43 percent shooting – Dallas shot 36 percent from the field.

The Warriors will now have two days off before hosting the Sacramento Kings ( Find Tickets) on Friday night at Oracle Arena.
