CHICAGO – The Chicago Sky have waived Adut Bulgak and Chelsea Hopkins, the team announced, allowing for veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot and forward/center Astou Ndour to return to the active roster.
Bulgak, a 6-foot-4 forward/center, originally signed with the Sky during the 2017 season. She appeared in a total of five games with Chicago in 2017, averaging 4.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Hopkins, in her fifth year with the WNBA, was signed to a free agent contract by the Sky in April.
Vandersloot and Ndour will rejoin the lineup ahead of Friday’s game against the Connecticut Sun at Wintrust Arena. Both had been on the temporarily suspended list while they finished their respective competitions overseas.
“I am really anxious to get back to Chicago and to get back to work,” Vandersloot said. “I’ve heard nothing but good things about the atmosphere and chemistry of the team. I am excited to be a part of that and to see it transpire on the court.”
The 2018 season is 29-year-old Vandersloot’s eighth playing with Chicago. She returns after averaging a career-high of 11.5 points per game with the Sky last season. Ndour, standing at 6-foot-5, was acquired by the Sky during a 2017 trade with the San Antonio Stars (now the Las Vegas Aces), but was suspended shortly after due to injury.
Fans can see General Manager and Head Coach Amber Stocks’ final 12-player roster compete together for the first time on Friday, June 1 when the team hosts its first-ever Pride Night celebration prior to facing off against the Connecticut Sun at Wintrust Arena.
Tickets, starting as low as $13, are available at sky.wnba.com/tickets or by calling (866) SKY-WNBA. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. CST.
